Methodology and political science: the discipline needs three fundamentally different methodological traditions

Abstract Science is driven by methodology. In this article, I will show that political science, like all other social sciences, can draw on three fundamentally different methodological traditions. The first a descriptive tradition to generate knowledge describe phenomena and interpret symbols (text, image, audio video). second an explanatory-prognostic explanatory prognostic explain predict events. third genuine practical (not applied!) scientifically legitimate for standardization regulation. Furthermore, science would greatly increase its relevance politics society if traditions within the discipline were used complementarily applied in their updated forms. makes it possible reality as well sociologists, example, do. necessary be heard alongside economic sciences. allows catching up with jurisprudence.
